As part of Gifted Awareness Week 2026, Catholic Schools Diocese of Maitland–Newcastle proudly brought together representative students from all 58 diocesan schools for the STEM Aviation Challenge held at St Bede’s Catholic College on Thursday 21 May 2026.
Students engaged in a full-day immersive STEM experience exploring the science of flight through aerodynamics, engineering design, data analysis, and problem-solving. Working collaboratively, students designed and tested model aircraft using professional flight-testing equipment before competing in the diocesan STEM Aviation Championship.
The event celebrated innovation, creativity, collaboration, and academic endeavour while showcasing the incredible potential of our learners across the Diocese.
