Last week was a busy and vibrant one for many of our schools across the Diocese!

Here鈥檚 a snapshot of the exciting things happening across our schools!

 

Catherine McAuley students win National Artwork for 2025 NATSICC Assembly

鈥淚t will help share the story and spirit of Aboriginal Catholics in a way that is authentic, creative, and deeply rooted in culture.鈥

Two talented Year 11 students from Catherine McAuley College, Medowie have received national recognition after their collaborative artwork was selected as the official logo for the 2025 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) Assembly.

The piece, created by Tilly Moore and Wirikah Knox, will be prominently featured across Assembly materials, including the official website, programs, and merchandise. The artwork is a powerful reflection of the Assembly鈥檚 theme, 鈥淧ilgrims of Hope,鈥 intertwining Aboriginal cultural symbolism with Catholic faith.

St Joseph’s Primary School, Wingham Celebrates 90 years

The day began with Principal, Mrs Melissa Hunt, honouring the Sisters of St Joseph who in 1935, opened the school doors with 83 students. Mrs Hunt spoke of how the school has evolved over time and reflected on our current community.

鈥淪t Joseph鈥檚 Wingham is a vibrant and faith-filled community. You only need to walk through the gates to feel how special this school is. Together with our families, we walk hand in hand in the Catholic education of their children.鈥

St Clare’s High School, Taree Baskeball Victory

“I said, guys, we can beat them, youre as good as them, it is just about mental strength. Now dont drop your heads – keep going, keep going, keep going.”

The students from St Clare’s High School, Taree have triumphed over adversity to win the NSW Open Basketball Schools State Title.

Held at the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre on May 27-28, the tournament drew 31 schools competing in three divisions, comprised of the leading teams from each region.

Celebrate Choir

Following the success of its inaugural performance in 2024, ASPIRE鈥檚 Celebrate! Choirs in the Civic returned for its second show in 2025, bigger and more vibrant than ever.

Primary School Choirs and VoiceWorx ensembles once again captivated audiences with their incredible talent, filling the Civic Theatre with beautiful harmonies and energetic performances.
